How we helped

  • Analyzed an existing MS SQL system to understand its architecture, data, and related business requirements.
  • Designed the database structure in Snowflake considering the architecture differences between MS SQL and Snowflake.
  • Created the database schema in Snowflake and defined the structure of tables, views, stored procedures, etc.
  • Identified and migrated SQL queries and stored procedures to the new Snowflake environment.
  • Established the migration process in consultation with the client’s global team to ensure all data was correctly imported into the new SnowFlake and Tableau PREP environment.
  • Verified and cleaned the data prior to migration to ensure its consistency and integrity.
  • Imported data into Snowflake and performed its validation to ensure all data had been migrated correctly.
  • Adapted the visualization solution (Tableau) to the new data source (Snowflake).
  • Ran functional tests and optimized the performance of the new Snowflake database.

Business outcome

  • Streamlined sales reporting across the organization.
  • Ensured access to the global data warehouse for all branches of the organization.
  • Achieved reliability and availability by migrating the entire infrastructure to the cloud and simplifying a complex import mechanism.
  • Simplified the configuration of the new database, allowing for quick importing of data from new sources.
  • Enabled flexibility with a new database structure that is straightforward and secure enough for further expansion.
