How we helped
- Analyzed an existing MS SQL system to understand its architecture, data, and related business requirements.
- Designed the database structure in Snowflake considering the architecture differences between MS SQL and Snowflake.
- Created the database schema in Snowflake and defined the structure of tables, views, stored procedures, etc.
- Identified and migrated SQL queries and stored procedures to the new Snowflake environment.
- Established the migration process in consultation with the client’s global team to ensure all data was correctly imported into the new SnowFlake and Tableau PREP environment.
- Verified and cleaned the data prior to migration to ensure its consistency and integrity.
- Imported data into Snowflake and performed its validation to ensure all data had been migrated correctly.
- Adapted the visualization solution (Tableau) to the new data source (Snowflake).
- Ran functional tests and optimized the performance of the new Snowflake database.
Business outcome
- Streamlined sales reporting across the organization.
- Ensured access to the global data warehouse for all branches of the organization.
- Achieved reliability and availability by migrating the entire infrastructure to the cloud and simplifying a complex import mechanism.
- Simplified the configuration of the new database, allowing for quick importing of data from new sources.
- Enabled flexibility with a new database structure that is straightforward and secure enough for further expansion.
